The ritual

Sixty minutes.
Heat, cold, and quiet.

You don't need to have done this before. You don't need to be brave, fit, or good at cold water. You just need to arrive and — we'll talk you through the rest.

01

Arrive & settle

Find the sauna — you'll see our flag. Stow your things, grab your towel and meet your host.

02

First heat

Into the sauna. The stove's been prep'd so it's sitting at 80°C. Stay until your body says enough — this can be anything from five to fifteen minutes.

03

First cold

Out the door - feel the air on your skin. Walk to the sea or step into the plunge pool, it's cold, and that's OK. Breathe slowly. Thirty seconds may be exactly what you need but take your time if you feel lik you need longer.

04

Rest by the sauna

Wrap up in your dry robe or blanket, take your time. Sit and stare. This is where the magic happens. Heat and cold open the door.

05

Round two

Repeat at your own pace. Most people fit two full rounds into the session; the quick-dippers squeeze in three. But there's no race.

06

Back to the world

Get dressed slowly. Drink some water and perhaps a cuppa from the cafe. Drive home calmer than you arrived. The feeling lasts longer than you'd think.

Good to know

Asked often.

I've never done cold water. Will I cope?

Yes. The heat does most of the work — by the time you walk to the water you'll genuinely want it. Start with a few seconds and build. Nobody is timed, dared, or dunked.

What if it rains?

It's Devon, so: sometimes the sun isn't shining. The sauna is warm and dry, and rain on the sea is honestly one of the best versions of this. We only cancel for dangerous water or high winds, with a full refund or free rebooking.

Is there anywhere to change?

Bring your dry robe or changing robe. There's dry storage for your bags. It's rustic, but it works.

Any health reasons not to come?

You will have completed a waiver before being able to book your sauna experience and will be aware of health conditions which would prevent you from using the sauna. Have a word with your GP first and tell your host when you arrive.

Can I book the sauna for an event?

Yes. Private hire starts with a conversation: send us an enquiry and we'll work something out.

Ready when you are.
